by Shel Silverstein (poet and illustrator)
Delightfully zany rhymes about a giraffe who accumulates some ridiculous things—like glue on his shoe and a bee on his knee—only to lose them again, one by one.
A narrative story, told in rhyme, and with Silverstein’s delightful illustrations.
An early printing of Silverstein's book. While the copyright only notes the year 1964, subsequent editions also feature only this date. The inscription of this copy is dated 1978.
Condition: pictorial coloured boards over black cloth, lacks dust jacket, light rubbing on extremities of spine with corners slightly pressed; light soiling on two internal pages, with previous owner’s inscription on front flyleaf, otherwise a near fine, handsome early printing of Silverstein's poems featuring colour on the cover.
Published by Harper & Row Publishers, New York, Evanston, and London, 1964 [1978]
